Sustainability Day on the last November 24 will kick off three more digital interactive stakeholder engagement workshops to get feedback our sustainability strategy.

Sustainability goals are achieved by working with partners. And to do that, we all need to be on the same page. That's why stakeholder engagement is key part of Prysmian Group’s sustainability strategy. This year, we listened online.

An online event for a deep dive into environment, social issues and innovation

Prysmian Group has launched a Sustainability Day and three interactive online workshops in a new all-digital format for its annual 2020 Stakeholder Engagement event, an important appointment when we gain crucial input and feedback to shape priorities for the Group’s sustainability strategy.

What issues are our stakeholders passionate about? We wanted to know. Prysmian Group holds a continuous dialogue with people most affected by our business, so that we can incorporate their main concerns into our overall strategy of making cables for the energy and digital transitions. In 2019, workplace safety, ethics and integrity, and solutions for sustainable applications were three top stakeholder priorities. We were looking forward to finding out more about what our stakeholder said are their priorities in 2020.

This year, the Covid-19 pandemic restrictions on in-person meetings and travel, and Prysmian Group’s own digital evolution, means the event was held online. On last November 24,  Prysmian Group Chief Executive Valerio Battista, Chief Operating Officer Andrea Pirondini, Chair of Sustainability Committee at Prysmian Board Monica de Virgiliis, Head of Human Resources Fabrizio Rutschmann, and Senior Vice President and Head of R&D Srini Siripurapu will talked with stakeholders about what they are doing to achieve our sustainability strategy during a digital conference  called “Strengthening the Dialogue, Fostering the Relationship.”

In addition to updates from these four senior managers, the program offered an in-depth look at “Diversity & Inclusion” world and at how it is supporting internal talent in a talk with three female executives.

In the segment “Linking Ambition to Reality: accelerating on innovation,” three young employees will talked about how they see sustainability and why it is important to them, moderated by Srini Siripurapu.

Prysmian Group was pleased to host an external guest for Sustainability Day: Carbon Trust, an organization founded in 2001 to accelerate the move to a low-carbon economy. Prysmian Group has asked Carbon Trust’s team of experts to advise it on setting science-based targets to cut its emissions.

The moderated event was taped so it can be available to all employees.  Prysmian Group’s suppliers, customers, investors, unions and creditors were all invited, as well as member of local associations, university researchers, and other Group partners.

After that, we are holding three workshops moderated by Deloitte & Touche for a deep dive into sustainability issues involving our environmental impact, social topics and innovation. Each workshop features a presentation by a senior executive on Prysmian Group’s initiatives and goals in their area, to be followed by a discussion with participants about the Group’s objectives, experience and global tends on workshop’ topic. Participants will be able to use a voting system, available thought the dedicated digital platform, to make the discussion more interactive. The Q&A discussion will take place over chat.

Head of HR Fabrizio Rutschmann will discuss “Enabling a Positive Social Impact” and R&D Chief Srini Siripurapu talking about “Forging a Sustainable Future” in terms of innovation and digitalization, on December 1. The third workshop is “Forward to Sustainable Manufacturing” on environmental topics with COO Andrea Pirondini on December 03.

“Prysmian Group’s business model based on the concept of shared value that calls for listening to and actively involving all internal and external stakeholders. The strength of the Group’s approach is the constant monitoring of our sustainability performance along the entire value chain, making us able to seize new opportunities in the ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) area,” said Lorenzo Caruso, VP External Relations and Non-Financial Reporting.
